PartnerAfrica
Special Initiative "Decent Work for a Just Transition"
The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) launched the special initiative Training and Employment in 2019 as part of the Marshall Plan with Africa and the G20 Compact with Africa investment partnership. In January 2023, the initiative was renamed in "Good Employment for Socially Just Change." Through innovative formats and flexible instruments, it aims to promote conditions for private investment and to create better employment opportunities. This is particularly important for Africa's fast-growing and young population. The initiative supports activities and projects in Egypt, Ethiopia, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal and Tunisia.
sequa, a globally active development organization in private sector development, is responsible for the implementation and quality management of PartnerAfrica projects under the special initiative.
The Association of the North-East German Textile and Clothing Industry (vti) has been involved in the special initiative with the GETS project in Ethiopia since September 2022.
German chambers and associations are further invited to propose their own projects for funding to the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
